Differential diagnosis of depersonalization-derealization syndrome
Abstract: The person affected with depersonalization complains spontaneously that his or her mental activity, body, and surroundings are changed in their quality, so as to be unreal, remote, or automatized” (WHO). The condition manifests as a pervasive disruption of self-awareness at its most basic. Depersonalization-derealization disorder (DDD) according to epidemiological studies occurs in 1-2% of people in the general population. These significant statistics do not fully reflect the prevalence of DDS, as it often goes unrecognized. In this study I want to investigate the differential diagnostic features of depersonalization and derealization disorders at a young age and to improve the detection of this syndrome in the clinical practice of physicians. This is prospective study which include interviewing and testing people with DDD twice: in the beginning and six month after. All individuals ware dived into three groups: a) without any treatments; b) group of people who receiving medical treatment; c) those who has psychotherapy.
