Essay Competition – Resilience Award

Call for Participation

Next to forcing many people to relocate to safe territory and leading to the tragic loss of many human lives, the war in Ukraine has caused a variety of hurdles and risks that businesses are facing as well. “Resilience” becomes a more and more important factor in facing obstacles like scarcity of resources, fragmented supply chains or rising energy prices and costs. Both the Ukrainian and German economy are affected by the negative consequences of the war and other crises.

The Chance for Science Network together with Dr. Jens Katzek, member of the Expert Council “Transformation in the Automotive Industry” initiated by Robert Habeck, Federal Minister of Economics, are looking forward to honoring those authors with outstanding, creative and innovative scientific solutions in the field of resilience of businesses in times of crises like the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The award of the Essay Competition is endowed with 500€ and is sponsored by Automotive Cluster Ostdeutschland GmbH (ACOD), where Dr. Katzek is Managing Director.

Essays may contain succinct, innovative and practicable scientific solutions to issues like maintaining operational processes even in times of crises or how to recover quickly from such events; strong adaptability of businesses in general or their controlling departments in specific; resilient cost and earning structures and reducing dependencies; investing in automation and digitization to counter the lack of qualified personnel. However, those are mere examples, essays may address other problem areas in the field of resilience as well.
